HyPrSpace Wins the 2025 Grand Prix Arts et Métiers des Responsible Industries
We are proud to announce that HyPrSpace has been named the winner of the second edition of the Grand Prix Arts et Métiers des Industries Responsables.

This prestigious award honors French industrial startups that stand out through excellence in know-how, innovation capacity, and their contribution to the country’s reindustrialization. It recognizes the technical expertise of our team and its role in transforming the space industry.
Awarded for Our Hybrid Engine Powered by Recycled Plastic
The second edition of the Grand Prix was held on March 6, 2025, at Bpifrance Le Hub in Paris. Organized by the Fondation des Arts et Métiers in partnership with Bpifrance, the Académie des Technologies, ENSAM, and the Société des Ingénieurs Arts et Métiers, the event brought together major stakeholders and decision-makers from the industrial world.
The award supports innovative and promising industrial startups with solid job-creation plans in France. It is part of the France 2030 investment strategy, which allocates €2.2 billion over five years to support Deeptech startups and industrial SMEs. The prize embodies France’s commitment to a more sustainable industry by driving innovation and contributing to the country’s ecological transition and reindustrialization. The winning startup receives a grant of €30,000.

This year, about thirty applications were submitted from a wide range of sectors including agriculture, construction, metallurgy, smart factories, shipping, aerospace, logistics, chemicals, textiles, and energy. Projects were assessed using rigorous criteria: team quality and industrial experience, the innovative and differentiating nature of production processes, distinctive features such as patents or prior fundraising, job creation potential, and local social benefits.
We were honored for our major innovation: a hybrid rocket engine powered by fuel made from recycled plastic — surpassing the performance of current technologies. Founded by Alexandre Mangeot, Sylvain Bataillard, and Vincent Rocher, HyPrSpace has raised several million euros and secured over €50 million in contracts with the French government, including in the defense sector.
“This recognition reflects the unwavering commitment of our entire team since 2019 to rethink the space industry. We are honored by this award and determined to pursue our mission: delivering ever more powerful technological solutions that meet tomorrow’s challenges while actively contributing to France’s industrial sovereignty and competitiveness.”
Redefining Access to Space to Build a Robust and Sovereign European Space Industry
Founded in 2019 by Alexandre Mangeot, Sylvain Bataillard, and Vincent Rocher, HyPrSpace is a pioneering French company in the NewSpace sector. Today, our team of over 90 collaborators is focused on developing the world’s first scalable hybrid rocket engine, combining simplicity, robustness, and efficiency — with the ambition of revolutionizing access to space.
Thanks to a simplified engine architecture — with 30 times fewer parts due to the removal of turbopumps — our engines are particularly robust and use a recycled plastic-based propellant. This hybrid propulsion technology significantly reduces production, storage, and operational costs, paving the way for a new generation of launchers, suited for both orbital (OB-1) and suborbital (Baguette-1) missions. The reliability and performance of our technology have been validated by key institutions such as the DGA and ONERA.
We also benefit from the support of prestigious strategic partners such as CNES, ESA, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, and the France 2030 program following our win in the first micro-launcher call in 2022.
This recognition, along with our institutional partnerships, reinforces HyPrSpace’s position as a key player in space innovation in France and Europe. We are actively contributing to the emergence of a competitive and resilient European space industry, fostering the creation of high-skilled jobs and strengthening Europe’s strategic sovereignty in a shifting geopolitical landscape.
