HyPrSpace inaugurates its new 7,000 m² factory and secures €3.2 million through France 2030’s “Première Usine” programme to accelerate industrialisation
HyPrSpace, a French industrial company that markets suborbital and orbital launch services through a range of launchers powered by patented hybrid technology, is inaugurating its new 7,000 m² factory in Le Haillan, near Bordeaux.

Inaugurated on Thursday, October 1, 2026, this new site enables the company to double its industrial floor space. Located at the heart of Nouvelle-Aquitaine’s aerospace ecosystem, it brings together the development, manufacturing, integration and assembly activities for HyPrSpace’s various launcher ranges.
To support this industrial scale-up and prepare for series production of its launchers, HyPrSpace is also announcing a €3.2 million grant through the “Première Usine” call for projects under the France 2030 plan, operated by Bpifrance. Designed to support industrialisation projects led by industrial startups and innovative SMEs, the programme is helping the company scale up its industrial operations. HyPrSpace’s ambition is to strengthen sovereign access to space for France and Europe by offering competitive, responsive launch solutions tailored to both civil and defence needs.
By 2030, HyPrSpace aims to reach an annual production capacity of up to 15 launchers and around 100 engines.

This industrial ambition is now supported by HyPrSpace’s new site in Le Haillan, which comprises two symmetrical buildings: one dedicated to launcher assembly, the other to manufacturing and testing. By bringing its 150 employees together on one site alongside its development, manufacturing, integration and assembly activities, HyPrSpace is securing the human and industrial resources needed to ramp up its various programmes.
The move to Le Haillan is also helping to shape a new space ecosystem in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. HyPrSpace relies on a network of local and national suppliers, subcontractors and partners. This industrial momentum creates jobs, strengthens ties with a regional ecosystem already recognised in aerospace, defence and space, and contributes more broadly to the consolidation of a French value chain.
“With this factory, we are laying the foundations for a new industrial sector built around hybrid propulsion technology. Our ambition is clear: to make HyPrSpace a world leader in hybrid propulsion, a technology that is strategic for the space sovereignty and security of France, Europe and their allies.”
France 2030 supports HyPrSpace’s scale-up
Launched as part of the France 2030 plan, the “Première Usine” call for projects supports industrial startups and innovative SMEs as they scale up and establish their first production facilities in France.
For HyPrSpace, this support follows several years devoted to developing and testing its patented hybrid propulsion technology, which have validated its performance and key technological choices. The company is now entering a new phase: industrialising its launchers and securing the resources needed to deploy its suborbital and orbital programmes.
The €3.2 million grant secured through “Première Usine” is intended to support the development of the new site and the gradual expansion of its industrial capacity. Through this new factory, HyPrSpace aims in particular to:
• structure and industrialise launcher production;
• increase manufacturing, integration and assembly capacity;
• support the development of its suborbital and orbital programmes;
• contribute to France’s reindustrialisation by establishing a new industrial sector around hybrid propulsion, a strategic technology for the space and defence sectors.
“France 2030’s support is a major recognition of our project and our vision. After several years devoted to developing and maturing our technology, we are now reaching a new milestone as we scale it up for industry. This support will enable us to accelerate launcher production, support our growth and contribute to the development of new sovereign, robust and competitive launch solutions in France and Europe.”
Strengthening sovereign access to space from France
As autonomous access to space becomes a strategic issue for France and Europe, HyPrSpace is developing a new generation of more competitive and reliable launchers based on its patented engine, which has 30 times fewer parts than a conventional engine. This propulsion technology uses a storable, non-explosive and easily transportable fuel, greatly simplifying launch operations. These launchers are designed for frequent launches, helping to lower costs and expand the market. Inherently dual-use, this technology meets the needs of both civil and defence markets.
By developing and producing its launchers in France, the company aims to strengthen strategic industrial and technological capabilities within the country and contribute more broadly to the development of a sovereign space sector. This ambition is set to take shape with the first flight of Baguette One, HyPrSpace’s suborbital launcher, scheduled for 2027 from the DGA Essais de missiles site in Biscarrosse, in the Landes. This historic launch will mark the first lift-off of a private civil launcher from mainland France.
Alongside its suborbital offering, HyPrSpace continues to develop its orbital programmes in order to gradually expand its range of launch services.
These issues of sovereignty and space defence will also be at the heart of the NextSpace Symposium 2026, held on October 1 and 2 at the Cité du Vin in Bordeaux. Nicolas Billecocq will speak on Friday, October 2 at 2:00 p.m. during the panel discussion “Protection, deterrence and active defence”, devoted to strategies for the protection and active defence of space systems.
About HyPrSpace
A French industrial company, HyPrSpace markets suborbital and orbital launch services through a range of launchers powered by patented hybrid technology. This inherently dual-use breakthrough innovation provides a concrete response to Europe’s space and defence ambitions through robust, competitive and sovereign solutions.
The technology has been successfully tested during four full-scale engine test campaigns at the DGA Essais de missiles facilities in Gironde. Baguette One will lift off in 2027 from mainland France, in Biscarrosse, marking a historic first in French space history.
